Ten days later, the exam taken, graded and sent along to the state board, the six students worked with Rick to get Formero Investigations underway while they awaited the results. He’d already accepted a few jobs, mostly tracking down lost relatives thought to be beneficiaries of wills. Rick and his staff were happy with the state of things. They needed time to get up and running. And there was a wedding coming up in a few days with several pre-wedding festivities on the calendar.
Two days before the wedding, he looked up as a familiar face appeared in his reception room. Familiar but unexpected.
“Isabelle? What brings you here today? Do you have good news for your students?”
The questions were hardly out of his mouth when he realized his visitor wasn’t smiling. In fact, she was pale with a scared look in her eyes.
“Not yet. I’m here for another reason. I need your help, Rick. In fact, I need the help of the whole team. My brother’s been charged with his wife’s murder, and I know he didn’t do it.”
